CEFX SD40-2 built from a Kato model. The nose was replaced with a Cannon and Company 88" nose to give me the correct phase for this former UP unit. The fans were replaced with Cannon and Company photoetched see-through fans. The stock SD40-2 handrails were tossed in exchange for the finer SD38-2 handrails from Kato. The electrical contacts were gutted from the drive and the mechanism was hard wired. Other detail specific parts were added such as air conditioner, lift rings, antennas, metal grab irons, ditch lights (operating) and MU hoses. Unit was painted with Scalecoat II Conrail blue over white primer. Mechanism was painted with Floquil engine black. Decals are by Highball Graphics. Unit was clearcoated and then weathered to reflect a somewhat recently repainted but not clean unit.
